About John Terry

As a player John Terry is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders of his generation.  He is a legend of the English game, known particularly for his immensely successful spell at Chelsea F.C.

John Terry's Biography

A product of their youth academy, Terry’s impressive performances quickly saw him become a first-team regular, and captained the side for the first time just a few days before his 21st birthday.

He would go on to skipper the side over 500 times, comfortably a Chelsea record. During this time, Terry won everything there is to win in club football, with career highlights including five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three English League Cups, one UEFA Europa League and one UEFA Champions League.


Terry was highly regarded by his fellow professionals during his career, consistently being voted as a part of the PFA Team of the Year, UEFA Team of the Year and FIFPro World XI on numerous occasions. Individually, he is a two-time Chelsea Player of the Year and a one-time PFA Players’ Player of the Year – winning the latter after an exceptional 2004/05 campaign. Since retiring from the pitch, Terry has been honoured for his achievements by receiving the Globe Soccer Player Career Award and being inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2024.

At International level, Terry saw of stiff competition from the country’s best defenders to become a regular for his country during the early 00’s. Becoming captain of his country in 2006, Terry represented his country at 4 major tournaments, winning 78 caps.


An exceptional leader on the pitch, Terry has brought these qualities into his post-playing career, having taken on coaching roles at both Aston Villa and Leicester City since hanging up his boots in 2018. It’s this passion and natural presence as a role model that Terry has also brought to his charity work – leading his recent project The John Terry Foundation to help those less fortunate and raise money through various generous methods.


John Terry’s legacy in football extends far beyond his achievements on the pitch. As a leader, coach, and entrepreneur, he continues to inspire both in the footballing world and his community, solidifying his status as not just a football legend, but a true ambassador of the sport.
